Portraits
Full English Portraits are a collaboration with Nurull Islam & Photographer Rehan Jamil, exploring how the Muslim community in Tower Hamlets has integrated traditional English meals into their daily lives in an appetising exhibition.
The portraits of London’s East End provide a unique insight on how English dishes are often replacing multi cultural cuisine across the borough. Traditional favourites, such as the full English breakfast, have only recently become widely available to the Muslim community. The halal food industry has evolved over the years, with mainstream and Muslim outlets broadening their options to cater for a quintessentially British Muslim taste. Food is glorious at breaking down barriers, and the artists hope to delve further into how food impacts on issues of integration and identity.
